I like the three pillars here, leading into the window. The closest pillar frames the shot and allows little room to breath. The rhythm of the pillars contrasts with the flatness of the house behind them.
Someone placed these concrete blocks outside their apartment, and took the time to line them up. I took this photo because I thought it was interesting how small imperfections in the lineup creates large breaks in the rhythm.
Trying to create rhythm out of converging lines proved difficult. It ended up feeling relatively deep and the ceiling didn't create the rhythm I had intended.
This is probably my favorite photo of the batch this week. I love the break in rhythm with the lights on the right side. I love the crooked line on the floor in the center. This just simply doesn't feel like a comfortable place to be stuck in.
This truck was cast in such a disturbing green light I wanted to capture it a photo this week. The hardest part was that off frame left was a red pillar, and I had to reposition myself a few times to get it out of frame. I liked the quick, snappy rhythm of the grate and how their lines all pointed to the truck in the middle.
So much concrete and metal this week! All the photo's have a similar eere cold feel to them. The concrete blocks were really interesting. Partly because I just lugged 4 of those to SLC for my shoot so I have a connection to it but also like you said, the placement of some are off which adds a cool rhythm.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your photos in the parking garage. They remind me of the horror film we made in there, especially the "you will die" one. I also love the deep space in your 4th photo.
ReplyDeleteI like how gray toned all of your pictures are. I like the second concrete block photo a lot. I love how where you put the camera the blocks appear monstrous. The spacing between the blocks is nice and the framing is interesting. I love how our eyes can follow the pole above and then shoot to the left on top of the blocks.
