Flat, but with three distinctive contrasting tones.

I really wanted to place an awkwardly large flower between these two, and its awesome.

The tone is rather full of affinity in this photo, even though all the hearts are different colors.

I really like the difference the shadow creates in the lower left corner. It shows what lighting can do for tone.

This is my coin jar, and I love the noirish contrast in this photo.

  1. I really like your 4th photo. I like how the sharp lines of the square shadow contrast with the diagonal grain of the surface. Lots of cool contrast and symmetry. I like how you played with contrast and affinity of tone in all of your photos.

  2. There is a lot of motion and emotion in your second photo. I want to know what was happening! The dark behind Sariah, contrasting the light behind Ben and the flower and bricks splitting the frame add some nice touches.

I’m not sure how I feel about your third photo… It is so flat with the minimal tones which is something I am not used to. The framing (the hearts are so high and they are just slightly off) makes me feel uneasy. Also I’m not really a fan of candy hearts.

  3. I love your second to last photo. I love how the lighting does affect the tonal quality in the bottom left of frame. I love the patterns in it as well. It's intriguing to the eye. I like that you had in black and white too so it is easy to see tonal quality.

  4. The coin jar photo is awesome and is doing a lot of cool things with light and dark in and of itself, but the contrast that I was really struck by was its use of color after four other photos in black and white. As a set, there was affinity until we got to the last picture, and it made the shining copper really stand out.
